Job Introduction

The Headteacher and Governors of Great Steeping Primary School wish to appoint a Level 2 EYFS Teaching Assistant to work in our EYFS class (N1, N2 and reception). This would be a permanent post for 24 hours a week (4 days) possibly increasing to 30 hours per week (5 days) from January 2027. Anticipated start date 01.05.2026 (negotiable for the right candidate).

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated practitioner to join our EYFS team.
You will:

• Support children’s learning and development through play-based, child-centred activities.
• Contribute towards creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment
• Work collaboratively with the EYFS teacher, colleagues, parents and carers to ensure every child thrives.
• Be an outstanding practitioner who welcomes every child, supports their needs and creates an inclusive environment for children to feel a sense of belonging.
• Uphold safeguarding, compliance and EYFS statutory requirements.
• Support and oversee children in dining hall, in line with EYFS guidance.
• Support children with personal care when required

What we’re looking for:
• Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 in Childcare/Early Years (or equivalent) essential; Paediatric first aid desirable (training will need to be undertaken if not already qualified)
• Experience: Previous work in an EYFS setting is essential and knowledge of developing early language including WellComm and the ShREC approach is desirable (although training can be given).
• Skills: Warm, caring and enthusiastic with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment: Passionate about supporting children’s wellbeing, learning and development.

• Show initiative, flexibility and a strong understanding of the EYFS framework
• Work well as part of team and communicate effectively with colleagues
• Be committed to inclusive practice and supporting the needs of all learners
